About

I am a neuroscientist with wide range of experience in leading and implementing basic and translational research projects, focused on neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders. I am a principal investigator at Stanley Center of Broad Institute with appointments at McGovern Institute for Brain Research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Harvard Medical School. Scientific thought leader and innovator, skilled in animal model research, complex brain surgeries, brain circuit manipulation using viral vectors, neurophysiology, functional neuroimaging, cognition and behavioral approaches for preclinical testing and gene therapy. Member of institutional regulatory and policy making body for rational use of animal models. Investigator, motivator and leader in managing interdisciplinary and multi-institutional, international projects with team members from diverse backgrounds. Deeply committed to collaboratively tackling brain disorders using translational approaches. I am also an associate editor for the academic journal Frontiers in Systems Neuroscience. Co-Investigator for several federal grants with combined funding of 40+ million, and have authored over 50 peer reviewed publications in high-impact journals including Science, Nature, Nature Neuroscience, Neuron, and Cell (selected publications below).
